Esri ArcGIS: 2025-26 Account Transfer for myLSU Sign-Ins

   ArcGIS Logo

General Information

LSU is updating the myLSU sign in process used for ArcGIS, which is on a version that will be deprecated by December 31, 2025. As a result, all myLSU users will need to sign in with the "Sign In with myLSU (updated)" option on December 17, which will not automatically transfer content. You will still be able to access ArcGIS through the transfer, but your content will need to be moved over manually once the new sign in is live.

This process will not affect users who have a separate ArcGIS account and password not tied to myLSU.

The cutoff for the old sign in process is December 17, after which the myLSU sign in button will be replaced with the new one.

Priority Accounts

Consideration will be taken for the following:

  • Research that is running through the December holiday (priority)
  • Staff who need to access during the holiday
  • Other special situations as they arise

Please contact the ITS Software Team (software@lsu.edu)  for any concerns about special situations not listed.

Content Transfer Steps

  1. Navigate to ArcGIS via https://lsu-its.maps.arcgis.com.

  2. Click Sign in with myLSU (updated)
Note: If the button does not have "(updated)" at the end, the new sign-in is not live yet. Please wait until the new sign-in is available.

  3. Your content will not appear right away. It is not gone, just under your old account still.

  4. Send in a content transfer request with the following link:  [Link available after new sign-in is live]
  • Be sure to include your new account name in your request.
  • Requests to transfer to/from a different username's account will NOT be processed without follow up + staff approval. (ex. Mtiger1 asks to transfer to Tmike7_lsu_its)

FAQs

Why is this change happening?

The SSO being used for ArcGIS is not on the main modern authentication system for LSU, and this change is being required in December 2025 for all LSU applications which still use it.

Why won't my ArcGIS content automatically transfer?

This is a feature beyond LSU's control - any system updates to the SSO settings in ArcGIS will cause new accounts to be made.

Additionally, membership in unowned groups will not be retained - group owners will need to re-add group members. Old accounts will remain in the system for this reason to be of reference on request.

What about actively running projects?

This only affects signing into your account - actively running projects in ArcOnline should not be affected.

Projects running in ArcPro Desktop may need an updated sign in once the new SSO is live. To mitigate any disruptions for large Desktop-based projects, we would recommend changing to Offline Mode temporarily during the transition date and through the holiday unless online resources are needed. To do so, please see: Esri ArcGIS: Access and Install ArcGIS Pro

What if I need to access my content during the holidays?

The LSU Software Team will respond to any critical needs as available.

What date is the cutoff?

December 17 is the date we will be completing the change; access may be intermittent on this date. To mitigate any disruptions for large Desktop-based projects, we would recommend changing to Offline Mode temporarily during the transition date and through the holiday unless online resources are needed. To do so, please see: Esri ArcGIS: Access and Install ArcGIS Pro
