VMware: LSU Overview

General Information
The VMware Academic Program (VMAP) is a comprehensive usage program designed specifically for the academic community. In addition to free licenses for instruction and research, VMware also provides academic institutions and affiliated organizations special discounts on VMware software and support when deployed as a part of their IT infrastructure.
Note that as of October 1, 2024, all VMWare software is no longer available via OnTheHub or the Brightspace portal, and will need to be downloaded from the new Broadcom portal.
VMware includes licenses for the following products:
- Fusion
- Workstation
- Server
Download & Install
Faculty and Staff:
Faculty and staff can use VMware software under specific program usage guidelines free of charge for academic research and classroom instruction.
Please note that VMWare's license mode has changed to free for personal/academic use and our academic license was discontinued. You will no longer need to request licenses and can simply access it through the new VMWare Broadcom portal after creating a Broadcom account:
Students:
Students can install this software on their personal computers as part of their coursework or research projects.
