GIMP: Installation Instructions (Mac)


GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed, open source program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring.

How to Install GIMP on Mac: 

1. Download GIMP from TigerWare.

a. Click Log in to Download

b. Log in to the myLSU portal with your LSU ID and password.

c. Select Mac from the Select a Platform dropdown menu.

d. Select the download button for GIMP 2.8.4 (Mac).

2. When the download has finished, GIMP is ready to be opened.

3. If you receive the message "GIMP" can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer, you will need to access your Security and Privacy settings to grant an exception. For more information, see Gatekeeper: Turn Apple Gatekeeper ON & OFF.
