Mozilla ThunderBird: Managing Spam and Junk Mail

To Access Basic Junk mail Settings in ThunderBird:

1. Go to your account settings.

NOTE: There are two options to get to your account settings. Follow either option listed below.

Option one:

a. Make sure you are on your home screen (not your inbox) by clicking on your email address in the top left corner of the window.

b. Click View settings for this account found under Accounts.

Option Two:

a. From your home screen, or from your inbox, click the settings icon in the top right corner of the screen, hover over Options.

b. Choose Account settings.

2. The Account settings window will pop up.

3. Choose Junk Settings in the left side-bar.

4. From here some of the option are:

  • Enable or disable junk mail controls on your account.
  • Select what will be automatically marked as junk mail.
  • Choose whether or not to "trust" junk mail headers such as: Bogofilter, DSPAM, POPFile, SpamAssassin, or SpamPal.
  • And Automatically move new junk messages to your Junk Folder, or select an alternative folder that already exists.
  • Choose how long messages will stay in the junk folder before being automatically deleted.

5. When you are finished configuring the settings click OK to finish.
